Anti-theft for Mobile
Have you
ever lost your phone? You may have felt quite disheartened at such a time, weren’t
you? Likewise, if someone was to steal your phone, all your personal details
would fall into the hands of a stranger, or worse, your enemy! How would you
like to find the thief and give him or her a nice slap on the face? Indeed, it would
feel good inside.
What if there
was some sought of software to help you trace your phone’s location? Well,
there really is such a tool developed by Nokia in collaboration with F-Secure.
What’s great is that it is totally free to download.
Once you
active this option, even if the thief removes your SIM and insert another, the
software would send the new phone number to a pre-specified number by you at
the time of activation. So, you would receive the current phone number the
thief is using with your mobile phone no matter how many times he or she may
change it.
I suppose,
this is what you should do as soon as you notice that your phone is lost or
has been stolen. Entering #LOCK# <PIN> will initiate a message and send
it to your lost phone. You can select a PIN at the time of installing the
software. The lost phone will instantly get locked as soon as you send this
message. The phone will become totally useless to its new user.
#LOCATE# - Locate Your Missing Phone
This is a far
better option to you if you need to find the exact location of your phone and
catch the thief red handed. You can initiate a message to your lost phone by
entering #LOCATE# <PIN>. As soon as you have sent the message, you will
get a reply with a link. When you click on the link, you will be taken to
Google Maps and the current location will be displayed very clearly.
I suggest
that, if you lose your phone or it had been stolen, it is better to locate it
and catch the thief instead of locking the phone and making it useless to
anyone.
#WIPE# - Remote Wipe Your Phone
If all fails, you can at least prevent your personal
details such as contacts, images, and videos from falling into the wrong hands
by wiping off the memory of the lost phone. Although you may feel sad doing
so, it is better not allowing such things falling into the hands of someone
else. For this you will have to initiate a message using the command: #WIPE# <PIN>.
However,
this software works only on the following operating systems.
Don’t forget to comment once you have downloaded the software.
